I’ve been composing my own tunes since I started playing traditional music back around 1990. I rarely set out to compose a tune, they usually just appear in my head and I refine them with playing. Some years the new tunes flow, other years I don’t compose a single tune. I was certainly more prolific in my youth, they have appeared less often as I get older, but they do still appear. I’m quite proud of some of the tunes, others will deservedly disappear into obscurity.
