On this page you will find 9/8 jigs, also known as slip jigs. These are jigs with three groups of three quavers per bar rather than the standard two groups. 9/8 jigs would often be considered as an Irish style of tune these days (I think the term ‘slip jig’ is Irish), but they were fairly common in the old Scottish collections. You don’t hear so many Scots 9/8 jigs at sessions, we should play more of them.
